Introduction
This report describes the NATO large-scale exercise ORION 26 and provides an assessment of my unit’s performance.
Time, Date and Location
The exercise took place from 8 February to 30 April 2026 in multiple training areas in France, including the Atlantic coast, Champagne, and the Massif Central.
Participants
The exercise involved approximately 12,500 soldiers from France and 24 allied countries, including Poland. It also involved 25 ships, 140 aircraft and helicopters, over 2,000 vehicles, and about 1,200 drones. The Polish Armed Forces were represented by the 12th Mechanized Division.
Types of Tasks
The training included joint planning, land, air and naval operations, parachute landings, cyber activities, and simulated high-intensity combat scenarios. The aim was to train multinational forces to operate in complex, contested, and multi-domain environments.
Unit Performance
Our unit performed well during the exercise and completed all assigned tasks on time. Effective cooperation with allied forces was maintained throughout the exercise.
Recommendations
It is recommended to increase training in multinational communication and to continue preparing for high-intensity joint operations.
Conclusion
In conclusion, ORION 26 was a demanding exercise that improved interoperability and cooperation within allied forces.
