Examination task
Write a report to your commanding officer. Write between 150-200 words.
Last week your unit organized a charity event for army veterans and their families. You were one of the organizers. Write a report to your CO describing the event. Include the following:
- give date, location, number of soldiers involved
- describe activities included (e.g. concert, charity auction, fun run, etc.)
- say which activity was most successful and why
- recommend organizing a similar event in future

Subject: Report on Charity Event for Veterans and Their Families
Introduction
This report provides information about a charity and commemorative event organized by our unit for veterans and their families.
Time, Location and Personnel
The event took place on 15 August 2025 at the National Memorial Arboretum as part of the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan (VJ) Day. A total of 100 soldiers were involved in organizing and supporting the event. Approximately 30 VJ Day veterans attended, accompanied by members of their families.
Description of Activities
The event included a tribute to all those who served in the Far East and the Pacific, musical performances, veteran testimonies, a Red Arrows flypast and a charity auction. The concert featured several popular and traditional military pieces performed by the unit band. The charity auction included military items and donated goods, and guests actively participated in bidding.
Most Successful Activity
The musical performances were the most successful part of the event because they brought great enjoyment to all participants.
Recommendations
It is recommended to organize similar combined charity and commemorative events in the future to support veterans and strengthen relations with the military community.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the event was successfully completed, achieved its objectives, and had a positive impact on both veterans and the military community.
