Introduction

Time, Date and Task
The incident took place on 26 February 2026 at 10:00 during a joint airborne training exercise in Brittany, France. The task of the paratroopers was to conduct a daytime parachute jump from a military transport aircraft and land within a designated drop zone.
Description of the Incident
After leaving the aircraft, one soldier started to rotate uncontrollably and could not control his movement. During the descent, he did not react to instructions given by the instructor via radio. He landed badly and was seriously injured. In addition, several soldiers landed outside the drop zone due to strong wind.
Reasons
The main reasons for the incident were insufficient weather assessment before the jump and limited experience of some participants in difficult wind conditions. Some soldiers reacted too late to correct their landing approach.
Recommendations
It is recommended to improve weather monitoring procedures and provide additional training in landing techniques under adverse conditions. Moreover, clearer instructions and better communication should be ensured before future exercises.
