STANAG 6001 Level 3 – Writing Task (Letter): Food Distribution Support – NGO Request
Examination task
Write a minimum of 120 words on the topic below.
You are on a mission abroad. The commander of your unit received a request from an NGO to help distribute food from the transport which has just arrived in your AOR. On behalf of your commander write a letter to the head of the NGO in which you:
- accept the request and give suggestions as for the organisation of the distribution operation (where, when, how, how long),
- say how your soldiers will secure the operation and solve potential problems,
- ask for any other suggestions and a quick reply.
Sample Answer
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing on behalf of my commander to confirm that we accept your request to assist in distributing food from the recent transport in our area of responsibility. The distribution operation can take place at the community centre near the main road, which provides sufficient space and easy access for civilians. I suggest commencing the operation tomorrow at 08:00 and continuing until all supplies have been distributed. Our soldiers will cooperate with your staff to ensure an orderly process and equal access to the food.
To secure the operation, my unit will establish a safety perimeter and control entry points in order to prevent overcrowding and potential disturbances. We will also provide crowd management support and monitor the situation to address any problems promptly. Should difficulties arise, our personnel are trained to react calmly and ensure the distribution proceeds without interruption.
I would be grateful for any additional suggestions regarding the organisation of the operation and kindly request a quick reply so that we may finalise the arrangements.
