Examination task
Write a minimum of 120 words on the topic below.
You were responsible for conducting a fire drill. During the exercise, several civilian employees ignored the alert. Write a memo to your CO, in which you:
- assess the performance of your unit during the drill
- state the reasons why the civilians ignored the alert and suggest what consequences should be drawn
- say what could be done to improve similar exercises in the future

Subject: Fire Drill – Unit Performance Assessment
1. The purpose of this memorandum is to report on the fire drill at the unit headquarters building and to assess personnel readiness and knowledge of emergency procedures.
2. The overall execution of the drill revealed varying levels of performance.
a) Military personnel responded promptly to the alarm and followed evacuation procedures in accordance with established regulations. Accountability checks were completed within the required timeframe.
b) In contrast, several civilian employees ignored the alarm and failed to evacuate the building. Their behaviour indicated either a lack of awareness of emergency procedures or insufficient training and disregard for existing safety regulations.
3. In order to prevent similar situations in the future, corrective measures are required.
a) All civilian personnel should receive additional instruction on emergency procedures, including mandatory safety briefings.
b) Supervisors should ensure compliance with evacuation regulations, and repeated failure to follow procedures should result in appropriate administrative action.
