Sample Discussion
A: There are several factors that determine the development of a country. Let’s look at the list and decide which is the most and the least influential. Am I right?
B: Yes, that’s correct. In my opinion, the most important factor is a good education system. Education is a key driver of economic development. Countries with higher levels of education tend to have stronger economies, higher productivity, and lower levels of poverty. Educated people provide the workforce with the skills and knowledge needed to drive innovation and improve efficiency. What do you think?
A: I completely agree. Education equips people with knowledge and skills that help them function more effectively in the labour market. It also develops critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, which are essential in modern economies. Moreover, education opens access to better career opportunities, higher wages, and greater job satisfaction. As a result, it supports both personal development and overall economic growth. However, I think favourable laws are also very important. A stable legal system encourages investment and protects businesses. Without clear regulations, even well-educated people may not be able to fully use their potential. Wouldn’t you agree?
B: Yes, absolutely. Favourable laws create a predictable environment for economic activity and reduce the risk of corruption. They ensure that rules are applied fairly and consistently, which increases trust in public institutions and enhances tax security. As a result, both domestic and foreign investors are more likely to invest, which supports economic growth and stability. On the other hand, I would say that well-developed infrastructure is slightly less influential compared to the other two factors. Although it is important for the transport of goods and people, it can be gradually improved if a country has strong institutions, funds and an educated population.
A: I see your point. Infrastructure definitely supports trade and mobility, but I agree that it depends on financial resources and long-term planning. Compared to education and laws, its impact is less direct.
B: Exactly. So, to sum up, we both agree that a good education system is the most influential factor because it drives economic growth and personal development, while infrastructure is the least influential, as it can be developed over time.
A: Yes, I couldn’t agree more.
