Vietnam Today: A New English-language TV Channel

Vietnam Today, the country’s first international English-language television channel, will officially launch on September 7, 2025, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2).

The channel will provide 24/7 updates on Vietnam and the world, offering fast and accurate coverage of both domestic and international events. With English as its primary broadcast language, it aims to bridge Vietnam with the global community and promote a deeper understanding of the country on the world stage. The channel will also offer multilingual subtitles.

Audiences in Vietnam and across the globe will have access to a diverse range of programmes, from news and political commentary to culture, tourism, cuisine, heritage, and human stories. Each broadcast will carry a distinctly Vietnamese identity, presented in a modern, engaging, and accessible style for international viewers.

The programming lineup will include Daily Biz, Executive Talk, Culture Mosaic, Tunebox, Heritage Journey, Eyes on V, Amazing Vietnam, Street Food, Taste of Vietnam, Tech Horizon, Echoes of the Wild, Speak Like a Local, and many more. These programmes will explore not only Vietnam’s rich heritage and vibrant culture but also timely issues such as innovation, digital transformation, and environmental challenges.

At the launch ceremony in Hanoi on August 22, VTV’s Deputy General Director, Do Duc Hoang, highlighted the channel’s commitment to delivering reliable information, engaging content, and creative media. He emphasized that Vietnam Today aims to portray a dynamic, innovative Vietnam making significant strides on the global stage.

Mr. Do Duc Hoang said that in the context of a rapidly changing world with many intertwined challenges and opportunities, conveying the image of Vietnam to the international community in a correct, sufficient, timely and profound manner is an urgent task. Therefore, Vietnam Today was born with the ambition of being more than just a television channel – it will serve as a window on Vietnam and a platform where the international community can gain a genuine and comprehensive understanding of a peaceful, stable, innovative, dynamic, and fully integrated nation, he added.

The channel is launched by national broadcaster Việt Nam Television (VTV), and its distribution will be tailored to suit regional broadcasting methods – from satellite and cable to internet platforms, ensuring content is easily delivered to viewers worldwide. Vietnam Today will also be widely available on social media, including its website and mobile app, providing easy access for millions of viewers across the globe.

Programming will be available across multiple platforms, including OTT (over-the-top) applications and DTT (digital terrestrial television) networks, initially reaching audiences in the Americas, Europe, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar. Starting in 2026, VTV plans to expand its distribution through global partnerships and television service providers.
