You are serving in a multinational unit. The force streamlining initiative has required your department to cut one position. In a memo to your new commander:

briefly describe the tasks of your department,
specify the position to be abolished,
describe how the present tasks of that position can be delegated, and
mention the future assignment of the officer affected by the reduction, who will be transferred to Allied Joint Force Command Headquarters Naples.

Subject: Personnel Reassignment

The purpose of this memorandum is to present a proposal concerning the reduction of one position in the department as part of the ongoing force streamlining initiative. The department is responsible for coordinating administrative matters, including international contacts, the preparation of routine reports, and communication with headquarters.
After reviewing all positions within the department, I recommend abolishing the position of administrative officer. The officer currently assigned to this position is responsible for maintaining documentation, preparing official correspondence, supporting the daily administrative functioning of the office, and dealing with matters related to international cooperation.
The tasks currently performed by the administrative officer could be redistributed among the remaining staff members. Documentation duties could be assigned to the senior clerk, while correspondence preparation and report compilation could be handled by the operations clerk. This redistribution of responsibilities should not significantly affect the efficiency of the department.
With regard to the officer currently holding this position, Lieutenant Smith, it is recommended that he be reassigned to the Allied Joint Force Command Headquarters in Naples, where his experience and familiarity with international matters could be effectively used.
