The purpose of this memorandum is to report on an incident involving an ambush on a peacekeeping convoy of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan while travelling between Akobo in Jonglei and Pibor in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area. The convoy encountered an unauthorized roadblock and subsequently came under fire from unidentified armed men. Peacekeepers responded in self defence in accordance with their mandate and rules of engagement. No personnel were injured.
  2. Following the attack, the convoy implemented defensive procedures and secured the area before continuing its movement.
