STANAG 6001 Level 3 – Writing Task (Letter): Military Exercise in Germany
Examination task
Write a minimum of 120 words on the topic below.
The soldiers from your unit have taken part in a military exercise organized by your counterpart unit in Germany. You have been asked by the organizers of the exercise to send them your comments on it. Write a letter to the German unit’s commander
- thanking them for the exercise,
- describing how your soldiers benefitted from it,
- saying what else should be included to make future exercises even better.
Sample Answer
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing on behalf of my commander to express our sincere gratitude for the military exercise organised by your unit in Germany. The event was professionally conducted and provided excellent training opportunities for our soldiers.
Our personnel benefited significantly from the exercise. They improved their interoperability with allied forces, gained experience in joint planning procedures, and enhanced their tactical skills in realistic operational conditions. Furthermore, the exercise strengthened cooperation between our units and allowed valuable exchange of best practices.
To make future exercises even more effective, I would suggest including additional scenarios focused on urban operations and medical evacuation procedures. Moreover, extended debriefing sessions could help participants analyse lessons learned in greater detail. Finally, incorporating advanced communication systems would further improve coordination between participating units.
Once again, I would like to thank you for your hospitality and professionalism. I look forward to continued cooperation in future training activities.
