In a statement published on August 4, 2025, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on Israel to immediately protect the civilian population in the Gaza Strip. “Poland recognizes Israel’s right to defend itself and to develop in a safe environment within internationally recognized borders. However, it does not accept the number of casualties in the Gaza Strip caused by Israeli forces in their declared aim to eliminate Hamas’s combat and organizational capabilities.” The Ministry emphasized that “it is Israel’s duty, as an occupying power, to protect the civilian population. Israel is not fulfilling this duty”, stated the diplomatic service.
W opublikowanym 4 sierpnia 2025 r. komunikacie, Ministerstwo Spraw Zagranicznych wezwało Izrael do natychmiastowej ochrony ludności cywilnej w Strefie Gazy. „Polska uznaje prawo Izraela do obrony oraz rozwoju w bezpiecznym otoczeniu w międzynarodowo uznanych granicach. Nie akceptuje jednak liczby ofiar w Strefie Gazy zabitych przez siły izraelskie w deklarowanym przez nie dążeniu do wyeliminowania zdolności bojowych i organizacyjnych Hamasu.” Ministerstwo podkreśliło, że „obowiązkiem Izraela, jako siły okupującej, jest ochrona ludności cywilnej. Izrael tego obowiązku nie wypełnia” – oświadczył resort dyplomacji.
The statement emphasized that “Poland’s message is clear”. “There will be no, and there has never been, Poland’s consent to the use of restrictions on access to humanitarian aid for people affected by armed conflict in pursuit of military or political goals; to the use of hunger as a weapon against the civilian population; or to the creation of concentration camps to resolve the conflict”, the statement stressed.
W komunikacie zaznaczono, że „przekaz Polski jest jasny”. „Nie ma i nigdy nie będzie zgody Polski na wykorzystywanie ograniczania w dostępie do pomocy humanitarnej osobom dotkniętym konfliktem zbrojnym w osiągnięciu celów militarnych lub politycznych; na wykorzystywanie głodu jako broni przeciwko ludności cywilnej; na tworzenie obozów koncentracyjnych w celu rozwiązania konfliktu” – podkreślono w komunikacie.
“Poland recognizes the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and their aspirations for an independent state since 1988. The current phase of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is manifesting as an unimaginable humanitarian catastrophe and suffering for civilians. Poland unconditionally condemns this act of terrorism and consistently calls for the immediate release of all hostages who have been held so far.”
„Polska uznaje prawo narodu palestyńskiego do samostanowienia i jego aspiracje do posiadania niepodległego państwa od 1988 r. Obecna odsłona konfliktu izraelsko-palestyńskiego objawia się niewyobrażalną katastrofą humanitarną i cierpieniem cywili. Polska bezwzględnie potępia ten akt terroru i konsekwentnie wzywa do natychmiastowego uwolnienia wszystkich więzionych do tej pory zakładników.”
The statement noted that Poland supports the UN resolutions regarding the protection of civilians and the fulfilment of legal and humanitarian obligations from December 12, 2023. To this end, in 2023-2024, Poland provided a total of over 50 million PLN in aid to Palestine, primarily through UN agencies (UNRWA, WFP, UNMAS, UNICEF, and UNESCO), Polish development cooperation projects, and through two medical aid shipments to Egyptian hospitals treating patients from Gaza.
W komunikacie stwierdzono, że Polska popiera rezolucje ONZ dot. ochrony ludności cywilnej i wypełniania zobowiązań prawnych i humanitarnych z 12 grudnia 2023 r. W tym celu w latach 2023-2024 Polska przekazała na rzecz Palestyny łączną pomoc o wartości ponad 50 mln złotych, głównie za pośrednictwem agencji ONZ (UNRWA, WFP, UNMAS, UNICEF i UNESCO), projektów polskiej współpracy rozwojowej oraz poprzez dwie transze pomocy medycznej dla egipskich szpitali leczących pacjentów z Gazy.
Additionally, as noted, Polish experts participated in a WHO mission in Egypt focusing on medical evacuations and water purification. Furthermore, development projects and training for Palestinian diplomats in Poland are ongoing. It was also highlighted that Poland sponsored the organization of a meeting of Palestinian ambassadors.
Ponadto – jak dodano – polscy eksperci uczestniczyli w misji WHO w Egipcie w zakresie ewakuacji medycznych i oczyszczania wody. Ponadto kontynuowane są projekty rozwojowe i szkolenia dla dyplomatów palestyńskich w Polsce. Zaznaczono również, że Polska sponsorowała organizację narady ambasadorów Palestyny.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip cannot be considered separately from its policy towards the West Bank and its actions in Syria and Lebanon.
Ministerstwo Spraw Zagranicznych podkreśliło też, że działania Izraela w Strefie Gazy nie mogą być rozpatrywane w oderwaniu od polityki izraelskiej wobec Zachodniego Brzegu oraz działań w Syrii i Libanie.
“The illegal activities of Jewish fundamentalist settlers, supported at the highest political and military levels, are leading to the de facto annexation of all Palestinian occupied territories and ultimately preventing the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on a two-state solution. Military actions in Syria and Lebanon threaten to severely destabilize both countries and pose a risk to the security interests of the region and Europe”, stated the diplomatic service.
„Popierana na najwyższych politycznych i wojskowych szczeblach nielegalna działalność fundamentalistycznych osadników żydowskich prowadzi do faktycznej aneksji całości palestyńskich terytoriów okupowanych i ostatecznego uniemożliwienia zakończenia konfliktu izraelsko-palestyńskiego w oparciu o rozwiązanie dwupaństwowe. Działania militarne w Syrii i Libanie grożą gwałtowną destabilizacją obu tych krajów i niosą ryzyko dla interesów bezpieczeństwa regionu i Europy” – oświadczył polski resort dyplomacji.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also added that “to prevent the further deepening of the already existing humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, it recognizes the need for the immediate resumption of UNRWA’s operations in the occupied territories”. The Ministry also stated that Poland continues to provide financial support to this UN agency (over 4 million PLN in the current year alone) and offers “very important political support in the current situation”.
Ministerstwo Spraw Zagranicznych dodało też, że „w celu zapobieżenia pogłębiania się istniejącej już katastrofy humanitarnej w Strefie Gazy, dostrzega konieczność natychmiastowego wznowienia działalności UNRWA na terytoriach okupowanych”. Resort przekazał też, że Polska w dalszym ciągu zapewnia finansowe wsparcie tej agencji ONZ (ponad 4 mln zł tylko w roku bieżącym) oraz udziela „bardzo ważnego w obecnej sytuacji wsparcia politycznego”.
The statement reminded that on July 21 of this year, 30 foreign ministers, including Minister Radosław Sikorski, signed a letter regarding Gaza, addressing the severity of the situation on the ground and calling on Israel to take immediate corrective measures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that, as a result of international pressure, Israel restored the temporary operation of humanitarian corridors in the Gaza Strip and agreed to carry out aerial drops of aid.
W komunikacie przypomniano, że 21 lipca br. 30 ministrów spraw zagranicznych, w tym minister Radosław Sikorski, podpisało list w sprawie Gazy, odnoszący się do powagi sytuacji na miejscu i wzywający Izrael do podjęcia natychmiastowych kroków zaradczych. Ministerstwo Spraw Zagranicznych zwróciło uwagę, że w wyniku presji międzynarodowej Izrael przywrócił czasowe funkcjonowanie korytarzy humanitarnych w Strefie i zgodził się na dokonywanie lotniczych zrzutów pomocy.
